050505.. very nice number.. and dats today.. SYF for JC band.. and oh ya.. a special day to me..
0545.. wake up wif reluctance.. and get to sch.. 0730.. phew.. almost late.. and after tt report to bandroom to hav some practice b4 our breakfast.. every1 was so excited abt today.. cheers and smiles were everywhere.. dunnoe y.. I do nt have dis excitedness in me.. hmmz morning bluez??... but feel betta after the practice.. 1030.. went for breakfast in the canteen.. and soon I was back to bandroom.. changed into competition attire and have some last min tuning.. my section seemed to tk a long time to tune.. and stil nt very in tune.. how can dat happen at tt point of time..?? but we stil went back to join the whole band.. soon after dr lee come.. practice and trying to polish some parts of singapore rhapsody and gloriosa.. tt ends our final practice b4 syf..
bus reached at singapore conference hall.. 1300.. at tt time we saw quite alot of other jcs.. mjc..rjc..etc...ya den some of my seniors and ex-band mates were there.. shahidah..limin..fumin..boonhwee..huihoon..lynette..xinjia blah blah.. trying to wish us luck.. yea but like wad dr lee says.. believe in hard work..NOT luck.. feel quite refresh at dis point of time.. finally we line up in 2s and went to the tuning room..
tuning room door placed a notice (strictly 10min) and there stood a woman holding and looking at her stopwatch.. practically timing us b4 we even sit down.. -_-'' ya tuning procedures was smooth.. in tune most of the time.. yes and the big moment is approaching.. we had to wait for abt 15min b4 the commencement of the 2nd half of the syf.. and so we were again queueing in 2s and at the same time blowing air into our instrument to warm it up.. ok.. at dis point of time the 4 judges were frantically taking photos abt 2 metres awy frm us.. trying to take at different angles
-_-'' ... singapore conference hall so nice huh??
at last.. we went up on stage and we started very well wif our very in-tune concert G chord.. tt echoes and end off wif very high notes.. and.. a smile on dr lee's face.. singapore rhapsody.. we played well.. quite a no of chords were in tune.. up next.. gloriosa.. nice starting wif the trombone projecting their notes.. quite in tune.. yupz.. winds ensem was rather nt together but brass quartet went smoothly.. there comes the fugue.. I manage to come in tempo but seem nt to b together with the clarinet.. shit.. i couldnt hear them.. nvmz.. here comes bar 166, the most glorious part of the whole piece.. nt very in tune though but I tink we gave the judges some shock when the trumpeters and trombonists stands up and rounds up dis piece.. a loud round of applause followed..
phew.. it was over.. dr lee came out and gave us a smile.. "I tink ur did betta den acjc".. tt was his last sentence b4 he left to listen to the other bands.. I tink he did say sth like dis in the previous syf.. ya and in the end.. ok I shall nt mention.. but I personally feel that we did a better job den the previous 1.. so I stil have some hope in the judges..
went back to listen to the other bands.. sajc was gd but the piece is boring.. nt much musicality.. ya i tink tts the only gd band.. b4 we get chased by some ushers.. depriving us frm listening to tjc and ajc band.. we waited for a long long long time.. b4 the results were announced.. acjc.. GOLD.. tpjc.. GOLD.. didnt noe how shld i react.. happy? sad? disappointed? i dunnoe.. mixed feelings.. I kept quiet.. some of us were crying.. shocked and disappointed at wad we've got.. dr lee den went to calm all of us down.. "you did your best, wad matters most is the improvement frm here, gd job guys!" yupz.. den adlina, calvin,ivan, shahidah, simin n limin went to congratulate me.. ok.. at least I got back wad we did nt get the previous 2 yrs.. I smiled..
went back to sch.. listen to our recordings again.. and there was some encouraging words by julian, daniel and the teacher-in-charge.. "though we did nt get gold with honour, we knew we achieve it in our hearts".. tt was the only sentence I registered in my mind.. well said by julian.. yes and it was dinner time.. with my sections!!
have a hard time deciding where to eat.. ok in the end we went to fish n co... lol we had 14-ppl table.. cool.. trombone and flute sections were there too.. ya was kinda surprised after we ate when the man holds a ice-cream bdae cake and slowly brings to the table.. den later he suggested me standing on the chair while the rest sings a bdae song... oh siala.. damn shocked for me.. but no choice.. and I soon began to catch every1's attention.. lucky it was quite late and there was nt alot of ppl around.. phew.. but I was touched... thankz alot!!
ok ends off the day when I went home wif yan leng.. taking the same bus.. I was tired..yet very contented.. 2300.. I reached home.. again went online.. 0030.. time for me to slp.. zzZz..
PS. got some ppl to thank.. saxophone sect for the cake.. jocelyn and farhan for the gift.. yanleng for the card.. alan junwei n kenneth for the honey and sticks.. ya last but nt least yixin for ur WONDERFUL shoes.. lol..
